Help: Article Search Results

The results of your article searches are displayed on a Article Search Results page. This page gives you access to all articles in PRISMA containing your search term(s). A reminder of what you searched for is included at the top of the page, along with an indication of how many hits/articles have been retrieved.

Saving searches

You can store a search in the Saved searches area of My Archive for use at a later date by clicking the Save search terms to My Archive link. You will be prompted to give your search a name to identify it easily in the list of saved searches. If you are not already logged in to My Archive, you will be prompted to do so.

Selecting records

You can select individual entries in the Article Search Results page to transfer them to the Marked List:

Check the box next to an entry to select it.
The selected entries will be transferred to your Marked List.

You can click the Marked List link to view the current entries in your Marked List.

Changing the sort order of the results list

Results are sorted in reverse chronological order (Most recent first) by default. You can change the sort order to chronological (Oldest first), relevancy (Most relevant first), or alphabetically by journal by selecting the relevant option from the Sort Results by dropdown list and clicking the Sort button. The list of results will update according to the option you have chosen.

Note: your results will only be sorted by relevancy when you use the Keyword search field.

Changing the number of records per page

You can choose to display either 20 or 50 records per page (20 records are displayed by default). To change the display, click the link Display n results per page. The Article Search Results will change to reflect the option you have chosen.

Viewing results by journal

Click the the Results by journal link on the results page to open a page listing the parent journals of the articles retrieved by your search. Each journal entry indicates the total number of articles retrieved by your search and the number with full text available. Click the View results for this journal link below a journal title to display the results for an individual journal on the main results page.

To return to the full list of articles retrieved by your search, click on the Show full list of results link at the top of the page.

Navigation

Lists the number of pages containing results. Click a number to display the results listed on that page. If the number of results pages exceeds 10, click the Next link to view pages 11-20, and so on.

Displaying the full record

To view the default article format for an item in the results list, click the article title. The ASCII full text will open or the full citation if ASCII text is not available.

Labelled icons below each result indicate the format types available within PRISMA. You can click on the relevant icon to view the article in a particular format.

Linking to articles in other services

If outbound linking has been enabled for your institution, an additional link will appear below entries in the results list. Click on this link to forward the article details to your institution's link resolver which will look for the article in other services.
