Help: Quick Search

The Quick Search box in the left-hand bar on every page allows you to perform a keyword search across all the citations and full text for the articles and journals included in PRISMA:

  1. Type what you want to look for in the box.
  2. Click the Go button.
  3. A Results page will appear listing the articles and journals that match your search terms.

To narrow the scope of your search you can join together your search terms using special sets of predefined words called operators. Boolean, proximity and truncation searching provides more information on how to use these operators.

TIP: PRISMA will automatically look for variant spellings of certain common words in English; for example entering theater will also return results containing the word theatre. This feature can be over-ridden by enclosing the keyword in double-quotes e.g. "theater".

TIP: All searches are case-insensitive, so you don't have to know whether a word should be capitalized or not. For example, there is no difference between Peruano, or peruano.

TIP: Searches do not distinguish between accented and unaccented characters, so it doesn't matter whether the accentuation is included or not. For example, there is no difference between academica, académica, or acadêmica.

The results of your quick searches are displayed on a Quick Search Results page. This page gives you access to all the articles and journal records in PRISMA containing your search term(s). A reminder of what you searched for is included at the top of the page, along with an indication of how many articles and journal records have been retrieved.
